Wolf Moon Ranch is nestled in the Pinelands of southern New Jersey surrounded by the beautiful Wharton State Forest in Winslow. We are surrounded by wildlife and the aroma of natural cedar wood. It is home to our first miniature horse SBH Rainman Blues, and L. H. Hershee's Comet, our National Champion Driving horse who has successfully won many open trail, halter obstacle and pleasure driving championships.
Our ranch was established in 1989 when we moved into the farming community of Winslow with our big horses. Our love for horses introduced us to the miniature horse and the rest is history. We specialize in performance and show our horses in driving, obstacle and halter.
We are dedicated to our horses, dogs and animals. They have shown us throughout the years that unconditional love and constant humor and laughter is what loving and caring for them is all about.
The Native Americans in the eastern and northern United States kept track of the seasons by naming recurring full moons such as the Wolf Moon. When it was cold, wolves howled hungrily outside the Indian villages, thus naming the January full moon the Wolf Moon. The Wolf Moon is also referred to as the Moon After Yule and the Old Moon. Here in the Wharton State Forest area the winters are magical. The beauty of the Wolf Moon shimmering it's silvery light on the landscape is a sight to behold. We thought it very fitting to name our little piece of paradise Wolf Moon Ranch to celebrate the wilderness history and beauty of our area.
